HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY

Monday blues started in the morning when I had to get up in my routine time to get to my work place. Blame it on my memory I had forgotten about today being the Women's day. Only when I got into the car, I heard FM radio wishing every women a HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY. Wow...I realized its International Women's day today only after I heard the radio. All that was striking me hard was Monday blues till I heard about Women's day

As the RJ's on the air continued wishing women's day & started giving away the gift vochures & prizes to those who called the FM channel, I looked through the window. I saw a lady carrying a small baby tied in a saree around her waist getting ready to go to her work place, a construction work... In the next signal I noticed that there is an old women who is a begger, begging to make her food for today, with out worrying about it being a womens day or not. I also noticed a women carrying flowers in a basket, selling them again to make her living.

Today , Indian Govt is proposing reservation for ladies in parliament with 33% quota. This means there would be atleast 33 ladies for every 100 men in the parliament, which is good. But wonder why no government bothers to do some thing good for these poor ladies who struggle to make their living day in & day out.

As I walked into office, there were beautiful roses, waiting for all the ladies to wish a very Happy Women's day. This obviously makes us feel good, but I started to think if the Women's day celebrations are limited to those few people who can actually go out, chill out & celebrate? Is the celebration limited to people who sit in the A/C room or can afford to relax for a day? I see lot of e-mails floating around wishing each other for the day, but I don't think any of us would stop & ask those ladies struggling to join us in celebrations. Why is world so unfair? When I wished some one close to me, a Happy Women's day, I got a question back to me: Do you think Women are Happy with this one day celebration only? Well, honestly I am clueless..

I am hoping that this Women's day will bring in a change to all the women on earth & really does get a joy to everyone. Not to forget, here is wishing to ALL THE WOMEN IN THE WORLD: "A VERY HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY".
