Today morning I found some interesting facts about our own Maruti 800...I thought I should pen it down before I forget but could not do it till now as work kept me too busy. Now I think I should take a break now & put the facts I learnt about Maruti 800 before I forget many more facts about 800
1) I was surprised to know almost 100% of the components for Maruti 800 were actually imported, but still we called Maruti 800 "INDIAN CAR".
2) It was 1st released in India in December 1984
3) It was the highest selling car in India, till Alto was launched. After Alto launch, Alto took the credit of largest selling car in India
4) Maruti 800 is also exported to other countries like Srilanka, Bangladesh, Chili, Morocco with the name Suzuki Maruti :)
5) Maruti suzuki is considered small sized car as well.
6) Competitor for Maruti 800 now is Tata NANO, which is also classified as small sized car.
7) Nano has 8 percent lesser outer space & 23 percent more inner space.
My childhood memory of car always maps back to Maruti 800. We also owned one. I managed to take a snap of our car on Ayudha pooja over last weekend. I am going to miss our very near & dear Maruti 800 soon as we have decided to sell this car & go for an other one...
As I am planning to wind up on a beautiful Friday evening (beautiful because we have long weekend, on occasion of VijayaDashami), I thought why not write a recipe on something that I have cooked & liked the taste personally. This week I ventured into quite a bit of cooking & found Haagalakaai Kaairasa/gojju as we call in our local language, which is a kind of curry made of Bitter gourd, with sweet stint to it is a easy to make dish.
So here is the recipe
Fry T-Dal, U-Dal, C-Dal, Red chilli, Corriander & Asafoetida till they are golden brown. Grate some coconut and grind it along with all the above fried items and tamarind. Cut the bitter gourd into small pieces. Fry it a bit - just for few minutes. Add the above grounded paste to this bitter gourd and cook it. Add Jaggery and salt to this. Cook it till the bitter gourd is soft. Once the bitter gourd is cooked, garnish it with corriander leaves.
Dish is ready!!!!! It is healthy & tasty too... try it out
Best thing about this, you can preserve this for 3 days :)
I have deliberately not mentioned any quantity here, as I believe that the measurement especially for cooking comes by trying it & not by mentioning the quantity in tea spoon or table spoon.
As I was writing this blog, I realized may be this is 1st step effort in making my next generation say "nothing like what mummy cooks & not nothing like canteen food" as I had mentioned in my previous blog here.
I have heard experienced people tell, money can spoil relations. Now I am actually seeing it. Money has bought in fights for free between Industry tycoons like Anil & Mukesh Ambani. I don't think money would spare common people like us. If such big industrialists are not spared, how can a common man be spared? More & more recent incidents in life (personally as well) makes me feel people give more value for money than value of life. Money is spoiling everyone around. It doesn't spare even sibblings.
Though nothing is proved yet legally, most recent incidence of Chief Justice Dinakaran proves what I am saying. I was shattered looking at the news. Just imagine chief justice doing so much of injustice, just for the sake of money. I am wondering in all his career, what ever decision he has given, how much of it would be justice? What justice means to this chief justice?
Another past recent incidence that rings my mind is the case of vinivinc shastri. I find it so misserable to even imagine some can go this extent of cheating people for money...I find this entire thing so wierd. I always wonder why don't people just earn honestly & enjoy every single penny that they have earned.
We have even known people like veerapan, who killed innocent elephants for their trunks. Isn't it for money again? Speaking of murders, there are uncountable number of incidences reported in the media who kill others for money. My heart sores listening to all this. I wish world was a better place to live, where people actually lived for love & values in life & not for money.
As I am concluding this, a kannada song , by famous musician C. Ashwath, rings my mind "Kurudu Kanchana ...Kurudu Kanchana...Kuruda Kanchana kuniyuthalithu, kaalige biddavara thuliyuthalithu" ...How true!!!!!
Those who are familiar with kannada & kannada old songs would have definitely heard "Balegaara Chennaiah baagiLige bandihenu" atleast once. This song has featured even in Mysore Mallige, a famous kannada Movie. It is one of the song very close to my heart.
Balegaara in simple terms is a Bangle seller. He comes with loads of bangles covered in clothes & roams around the street. Who ever stops him, would pay him the money & get the bangles from him. Bangle seller would put bangles to ladies' hands & walk to the next house/street...
Last weekend since my daugther was not well, I had taken her to doctor accompanied by my niece along with my dearest mom & my sister was driving us to doctor. After meeting the doctor, when we were heading back home, we saw Balegaara Chennaiah (yes, even Now!!!!!)...Well, I don't know if he was chennaiah or not, but the 1st name that occurs to any one who has heard this song & see balegaara is by default, balegaara chennaiah. So it really slipped my mind to even ask him name. I am really hoping his name is Chennaiah :)
Well, we saw him on the way in the car & immediately both me & sister said Balegaara chennaiah instantaneously... Immediately we decided to buy the bangles from him. While we were making this decision, we saw that the balegaara had walked away quite a distance. So we decided to chase him. My sister asked my niece if she wanted any bangles from him. She was not very keen on it. Inspite of that we decided to go ahead & get bangles from him, though we never wear bangles :) It was the reflex action that made us chase him. Well, after some try we managed to get hold of our Balegara. First we asked my niece to have the pleasure of having the bangles. She chose to have pink bangles & then it was my sisters turn to wear the bangles. After a quick thinking she decided to go for the blue bangles, so that it matches the recent saree that she bought. Both my little darling Niece & my sister got 2 dozen each (1 dozen for 1 hand).. I only decided to get 1/2 dozen, as I know it hurts my daugther when I carry her. I hardly have worn bangle all my life & I know it would g waste. But Balegaara said MUTAYDHE (one who is married) should never say NO to bangles. When he said that I decided to get only 1/2 dozen bangle... That way, I neither waste the bangles nor NOT SAY NO to bangles.
What we did was something different & definitely a good feeling. On the way back home, our mind was pondering about good old days Balegaara Chennaiah :)
Since I have a new born, off late, I try & relate a lot of stuff kids do...
What wonders me most is as soon as babies are born & start their 1st minute on earth, how do they realize that they are hungry. They start crying non stop till they are fed. How will such small ones, who has not spent even one 1 hour on earth, realize that they are hungry. Even more wondering thing is how will they realize that if they drink milk from mouth their stomach would be full. Who would teach them how to suck? Who would teach them that taking food/milk in mouth would fill their stomach? How would they realize that their stomach is full & that they need to stop drinking milk? Crying is a natural instinct for kids. But what makes them cry when they are hungry? What makes them smile when they are not hungry?
As the days progress, I have seen kids smile & cry in their sleep. I have heard elders saying that they smile/cry in their sleep when they actually dream. Dream??? A kid dreaming of something who knows nothing in life??? That's not something acceptable. But definitely there must be something which makes them smile & cry in their sleep. TO explore further, I have had discussion on this with some known & experienced people. They are of the opinion that people do have rebirths and that this birth has no remembrance of previous life, but kids would remember it, till they can actually start communicating. Once they learn to communicate & they get absorbed into this present life they forget their previous life... Now, when they smile or cry, they are said to have dreamt of their previous life. Any good incidence in previous life is said to bring smile on their face in their sleep & any bad or not so good incidence is said to bring them a cry while they are asleep. Someone also further went a step ahead and mentioned, when you see the baby crying in the sleep, its when the God says, hey your Mommy is dead !!! & baby cries :)))) Well, may not be true, or may be true for there is no technology yet to see what others dream off...!!!
Slowly as the months pass by, babies put all their effort to learn to crawl, followed by trying to stand & walk. Now what amazes me is who is teaching them to do this? They don't understand what we say & we don't understand what is going through their mind. Who is controlling all this? Who makes them do what they do? Who tells them who their mother is? Who teaches them to speak those 1st words? Who teaches them to say words which means those correct words? How do they get so attached to "Their" people/folks. Who is the master mind behind all this? My minds whirls around WHO, WHO & WHO???
Since this is not something easily explainable, I tend to agree with elders when they say GOD controls everything in kid & only God can protect kids. Now, when it comes to Indian culture, giving a shape & a name to the GOD is not something easily that I accept. I have my own set of arguments for justifying we don't essentially need to give shape & name to GOD. But definitely agree & strongly believe that there is a supernatural power which controls all this.I have a strong feeling that day today birth & death across the globe is something that is out of technological research to find out of how & why!!! So it is only that Supernatural power which controls all this... Now, do I call this in simple terms as Supernatural power or do I accept with rest of the world & call it GOD? This is something that I am still fighting on with myself!!!!!
