As I am planning to wind up on a beautiful Friday evening (beautiful because we have long weekend, on occasion of VijayaDashami), I thought why not write a recipe on something that I have cooked & liked the taste personally. This week I ventured into quite a bit of cooking & found Haagalakaai Kaairasa/gojju as we call in our local language, which is a kind of curry made of Bitter gourd, with sweet stint to it is a easy to make dish.
So here is the recipe
Fry T-Dal, U-Dal, C-Dal, Red chilli, Corriander & Asafoetida till they are golden brown. Grate some coconut and grind it along with all the above fried items and tamarind. Cut the bitter gourd into small pieces. Fry it a bit - just for few minutes. Add the above grounded paste to this bitter gourd and cook it. Add Jaggery and salt to this. Cook it till the bitter gourd is soft. Once the bitter gourd is cooked, garnish it with corriander leaves.
Dish is ready!!!!! It is healthy & tasty too... try it out
Best thing about this, you can preserve this for 3 days :)
I have deliberately not mentioned any quantity here, as I believe that the measurement especially for cooking comes by trying it & not by mentioning the quantity in tea spoon or table spoon.
As I was writing this blog, I realized may be this is 1st step effort in making my next generation say "nothing like what mummy cooks & not nothing like canteen food" as I had mentioned in my previous blog here.
